Black Label is the new offshoot of Seamless Recordings, and
its third release is some post-Ibiza house that`s sure to
soothe the most SAD-affected clubber. Spanish duo Solar
Sides are the men behind one of the Island`s
favourite labels, Immaculate Ibiza
Music, and
with their two-track offering they`ve certainly taken in
some of the island`s spirit, with a pair of 12-inchers that
would bookend any Ibizan night.
Phuture Afro is an electro-houser full of warmth and feel,
complete with keys, bongos, and a subtle melody that`s
designed to ease even the coldest of clubbers into the
Balearic night. Flipside Ibiza Sunday Morning is more an
end of night chugging house number, floating and ethereal,
evoking sunrise and post-clubbing wind-downs.

Extremely House Music is a brand new label from Ibiza,
completely produced in the island by Solar Sides in
collaboration with Igor Marijuan (Ibiza Sonica Radio).
Three pure tech-house tracks. "Life Is A Shuffle" is a
track with frenetic rhythms, also includes a solo that
invites dancing in a pure house atmosphere. Perfect song
for dancefloor. "Electrified House", Solar Sides shows the
same strength of loops and rhythms but this time with a
base much more analogic. In "Electro Side", Igor Marijuan
shows same loops and rhythms but with a very deep personal
style.

la escena musical actual: "The Eivissa Inmaculada" refleja
la diversidad de procedencias de artistas que han elegido
Ibiza como su plaza de residencia, simbolizando esta fusión
en una unión entre los sonidos más avanzados del siglo 21 y
el espíritu y emociones plenas que residen en la ancestral
música de Ibiza.

Una vez más un disco que encontraréis en las estanterías de
Chill Out dado su origen ibicenco y su carácter tranquilo,
aunque la inclusión en Músicas del Mundo sería mucho más
apropiada. En esta ocasión se trata de la revisión del
sonido tradicional de la música de baile del folklore
tradicional ibicenco, aunque con ese aire particular de las
producciones de la isla blanca. Música entre mágica,
relajante y capaz de llevarte a ese estadio de tranquilidad
imprescinidble en la acelerada sociedad en que malvivimos.
Así, encontramos además de sintetizadores, guitarra y
piano: castañuelas, tambores, flauta y otros instrumentos
tradicionales ibicencos así como samplers de antiguas
grabaciones del folklore ibicenco más tradicional. Los
payeses parecen que vayan a salir a bailar con sus mejores
galas con sólo cerrar los ojos. De entre los 10 temas (11
incluyendo 'Immaculate', de 39 segundos) destacan 'The Pure
Spirit', 'Sensual Sunset', 'Sentimental' ó 'The Angel', en
los que los sonidos tradicionales se hacen obvios e
identificables para los que hemos asistido en la Isla a
alguna celebración con estos componentes tradicionales. Un
gran disco.

IMMACULADA PROJECT - 'Immaculate Beauty' - 2006
Since
the mid-to-late 20th
century,
hippie colonies and individuals have introduced New Age
sounds and other musics, the fledgling annual
“medieval fair” includes music which is often middle
eastern rather than medieval, and of course Ibiza has
become known for its DJs and discotheque music, including
rock compositions in ibicenco (“rock pagès”), New Age
music, world music, especially from India and the Middle
East, and Ibiza discothèque music, mostly house music
at this time. A number of experiments in fusion are also
taking place, such as Esteban Lucci’s Immaculate Ibiza
(2004), including sound of redoblat, flute, castanets, or
espasí onto “chillout” tracks offered as a
contemporary alternative to the pounding discotheque
sounds. All these seem to exist in another world from what
is left of traditional practice. It is almost as if, within
these two small islands, Ibiza and Formentera, several
musical islands existed – the newer “islands” not defined
by natural sea boundaries, but by a parallel way of life
which only sometimes jumps its tracks – or its currents -
and influences its old island host.

Immaculate
Ibiza es el título de un inédito trabajo discográfico en el
que se fusionan los sonidos más tradicionales del folklore
tradicional pitiuso, es decir, de Ibiza y Formentera, con
los más modernos y tentadores sonidos chill out. El
productor Esteban Lucci, conocido por ser el cincuenta por
ciento junto con Tomi del Castillo del grupo de jazz
contemporáneo francés, Solar Sides, es el precursor de esta
obra que quiere mostrar al gran público que tradición y
modernidad pueden convivir en armonía y que además quiere
posicionarse como un artículo musical diferenciado en las
tiendas de discos. De momento ya lo ha hecho gracias a toda
una lujosa presentación en las tiendas especializadas de la
isla donde se publicita en una pequeña y elegante vitrina.
Propietario de la discográfica Immaculate Ibiza Records,
este argentino de nacimiento se ha estrenado en su aventura
como productor en solitario y empresario con este trabajo.
La raíz del mismo han sido un par de legendarios vinilos
anteriores a los años 60 en los que se incluyen los samples
de música tradicional pitiusa que dan el toque original y
cultural a este trabajo musical.

Sonidos
de una lejana cultura... cercana
Muchas
veces nos maravillamos con los sonidos de culturas lejanas,
mezclas de sonidos orgánicos y sintéticos que nos
transportan a otros mundos... que están más cerca de lo que
creemos. Solemos viajar a destinos lejanos sin haber
descubierto rincones que tenemos a la vuelta de la esquina.
Poco más o menos eso es lo que nos pasa en el mundo de la
música.
Eivissa Immaculada
Project es un
proyecto que tiene como objetivo aunar las tradiciones
musicales de Eivissa (Ibiza) con la música electrónica
en clave chill-out creando unas increíbles atmósferas de
tranquilidad.
Al margen de que la espectacularidad del sonido y la
producción, creo que el verdadero objeto de este tipo de
música es que nos interesemos por lo que realmente hay
detrás, una tradición viva que no podemos dejar morir, y
que proyectos como este lo que hacen es acercarla a nuevos
oyentes.
Lo dicho, las culturas lejanas y los sonidos exóticos están
mucho más cerca de lo que creemos esperando ser
descubiertas por nuestros cada vez más entumecidos oídos.

Duende Orgánico", Solar Sides (Espanha) - flamenco

A fechar o programa os espanhóis Solar Sides e o tema “El
Duende Orgánico”, extraído do álbum “Ibiza Chill & Deep
Collection”. Formados por Tomi del Castillo e Esteban
Lucci, os Solar Sides provam que em Ibiza também há lugar
para o flamenco, um género que materializa a alma cigana na
Andaluzia. Mas nas últimas décadas este tem vindo a
regenerar-se. É que hoje é habitual fundir-se a estrutura
básica do flamenco com o rock e a música electrónica, algo
a que se convencionou chamar de nuevo flamenco. E é
precisamente isso que os Solar Side fazem, já que mantêm
uma inteligente mistura de elementos jazz e funky no seu
groove electroacústico, apelando tanto aos fãs do acid jazz
como aos aficionados do deep-house
dance.

SIDES ¨Electrolyse¨
Don't be
mistaken by the title of the Solar Sides album as this
isn't Joe's average electro album. Solar Sides takes us on
a well balanced trip of jazzy & funky acoustic grooves
going from more acid jazz like tracks to dancefloor
deephouse fun. We know covers don't say everything about
music, but the stylish and nice character of this one
showing a black woman in designers clothes smoking a big
Solar Sides sigar perfectly reflects the design of the
music.
So, what's behind this mysterious smokey woman ? It all
starts with "Birk's Work" for superb acoustic ingredients
of trumpet on driving grooves, somehow reminding of the
sound of the Soul Ascendents. "Afro Paris" continues this
delicious cocktail of warm vibes and excellent trumpet and
flutes creating a very melodic funky groove. And now time
for the big bass, the deep one, the heavy drum and rythmic
trumpets for dancefloor action on "Fascinating rythm",
"Round midnight" and "Tin tin deo".
It's clear Solar Sides offers more than most of todays
kickdrum deephouse that makes you want to take drugs to
escape boredom. Well crafted grooves in which mainly the
trumpet and keyboards add an exotic atmosphere will let you
work your body out on a packed dancefloor without the need
to touch any drug or alcohol. Now you thought that was all
in the Solar Sides package ? Definitely not. Let Solar
Sides guide you to the sofa as well with 2 killer lounge
tracks : "Night in Tunisia" and 'Well you needn't", and
when ez says it's killer lounge, it is ! "Night in Tunisia"
is an instrumental pearl offering a cocktail of warm exotic
trumpets, bassguitar, rhodes and flutes. "Well you needn't"
is the definite chill workout, with delicious erotic vocals
of
Haruna. Finally, Solar Sides is giving a try for
atmospheric deephouze
grooves in House of 909 style with Side's Effect or going
for an almost Internal Bass acid jazz sound with "Night and
day".
We can only hope Solar Sides is here to stay and already
look forward
for a follow up album as they for sure have the right mix
of talent to make interesting music. So, there you go Solar
Sides, a big Freestyle-approved label on this
one.
